French artist Thierry Jeannot is dedicated to the exploration of recycled materials and traditional craftsmanship in his vibrant studio located in Mexico City. With a keen eye for the overlooked, Jeannot transforms discarded and undervalued items into works of art that challenge conventional perceptions of worth.

His recent artistic endeavors have centered on the innovative use of PET plastic bottles, a material often dismissed as waste. By actively involving his local community in the collection process, he creates a sustainable and ‘natural’ source of supply, fostering a collaborative spirit. Jeannot’s work beautifully showcases the intricate allure of repurposed materials, inviting viewers to appreciate their hidden potential. It serves as a catalyst for a profound conversation about environmental responsibility, urging us to consider the role of art as a powerful vehicle for transformative change.

Jeannot’s work has been exhibited in various museums, including the MAD Museum in New York, the Franz Mayer Museum in Mexico City, the Albuquerque Museum of Art, and the Amparo Museum in Puebla. In 2019, the MAK Museum in Vienna commissioned him to create a chandelier for Stefan Sagmeister and Jessica Walsh’s exhibition titled “Beauty,” which was also displayed at the Frankfurt Museum of Applied Arts. In 2023, the Mobilier National acquired his piece “Transmutation Número 14” chandelier, recognizing both his innovative use of recycled materials and the uniqueness of his work.
